March is National Craft Month, a time to celebrate all things DIY. The pandemic may have brought out the creative in you, inspiring you to try your hand at knitting, scrapbooking, or jewelry making. But even if you didn’t pick up a paintbrush or crochet hook, you can still get crafty by supporting the work of other talented Black crafters.

Etsy is a massive online marketplace where you can purchase amazing handcrafted and vintage items. Whether you’re looking for clothing, candles, or home decor items, you can easily lose a day looking at all of the gorgeous goods that make great, unique gifts (or a nice treat for yourself!).

So we’ve saved you some time and rounded up some of the dopest Black shops on Etsy you need to be shopping like yesterday. We only chose five, but there are so many more!

R-KI-TEKT

R-KI-TEKT is the shop for colorful handcrafted leather goods that have beautiful patterns and designs inspired by African and West Indian culture. You’ll love the unique selection of wallets, key fobs and cord keepers. Founder Kel is a mom, wife and designer who is passionate about art and creativity and believes that a life filled with color, pattern, and texture is a life well-lived.

MayaMadeThis

For handmade earrings, necklaces and stretch bracelets that are sure to make a statement, MayaMadeThis is the perfect shop. She uses unique geometric shapes with neutral colors and gold accents to create pieces that are sure to make any outfit pop. Designer Maya is a one-woman shop, who makes most of her pieces at home in her Maryland apartment.

Wick & Glow Candle Company

The only thing better than scented candles and ‘90s R&B are scented candles that are inspired by ‘90s R&B songs. You can set the mood in any room with these hand-poured soy candles from Wick & Glow Candle Company. They have names like Let’s Chill, Real Love, and Urban Hang Suite that will take you back to that classic era. As a bonus, each candle comes with a ‘90s R&B playlist that is sure to help you relax.

Bespoke Binny

Lampshades, placemats and potholders are just a few of the colorful handmade housewares you’ll find on Bespoke Binny. Brighten up any room in your home with the unique African-inspired prints found in this London-based shop. Cooking will be a lot more fun in one of her handmade aprons. And the handwriting gratitude journal is the perfect place to keep all of your innermost thoughts.

The Trini Gee

T-shirts, tumblers and tote bags are just a few of the items you’ll find on The Trini Gee. The owner is a lover of all things Black culture, and that comes through in the design of all of the items in her shop. Whether you’re looking for a unique gift for a friend or a colorful mug to brighten up your office, this is a perfect one-stop shop. As a self-described puzzle nerd, I’m partial to the melanin-inspired jigsaw puzzles!
